An interview with Chris Voight by Marie Patel (R&M’s Marketing Coordinator)
Chris Voight is a Senior Land Surveyor and he has been with Redniss & Mead for eight years.
Marie: “Chris, please tell me about your job; What do you do?”
Chris: “I am responsible for various construction and residential surveys of all types and at every step of the process. From land/deed research, briefing field crews, field work, construction layout, processing and drafting field computations all the way to the final map. I oversee land development projects from ground-breaking to ribbon cutting.”
M: “What kind of projects are you working on?”
C: “I am currently overseeing a 6 story residential luxury condominium project on Bedford Street in Stamford and an 11 building, 46 unit townhouse project in South Salem, NY along with multiple single family residential and ALTA/ACSM Land Title Survey projects around southwest Connecticut.”
M: “What awards did you receive from the CALS Annual Map Contest?” (Connecticut Association of Land Surveyors).
C: “The 2013 Best in Show for Improvement Location/Topographic Survey of a private residence in Westport, CT; then in 2014, Best in Show for Improvement Location/Topographic Survey for a waterfront multi-building, multi-family & retail development project in Westport, CT and also in 2014, 2nd place for the Improvement Location Survey for the YMCA Mahackeno Site in Westport, CT.”
M: “What skills are required in your position on a day-to-day basis?”
C: “Being able to work closely and efficiently with in-house field crews, engineers, surveyors and planners is very important. We have a really top-notch team of professionals which makes that part of my day easy and a real pleasure. I work with AutoCAD and survey equipment on a daily basis, knowledge of the various technologies and techniques really shows in the end product, which I take great pride in.”
