Who Inspired You to be a civil engineer?
We are continuing the celebration this week by getting to know more about some of our civil engineers.
“My father and his career are what inspired me to be a civil engineer. As a Landscape Architect, my father’s business was always involved in improving the community in which we lived. The work he put into a project had a tangible positive effect on our Town. For my career, I want to make the same impact by contributing to enhancing my community. As a civil engineer, I am involved in land planning and site design and functionality on projects ranging from single family residences to multi-family developments, to schools. I love being part of a team that has a positive effect on the community.”
“From an early age, I was always interested in building things. I spent much of my childhood with Legos, wooden blocks, and anything else I could get my hands on. Despite this, it took me a long time to narrow down what I wanted to do. Finally, I realized that the design process was most important to me; the idea that a drawing on a page could become so much more. To me, engineering represents an opportunity to not only create your own designs, but to help shape the world around us. Above all, civil engineering lets me pursue my lifelong interest in how things are built.”
